MERCEDES-BENZ ACADEMY KECSKEMÉT TRAINING CENTRE HANDED OVER

The inaugural ceremony of the new training centre of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét that was erected in hardly a year has recently taken place. The 8000 m2 Mercedes-Benz Academy Kecskemét is located next to Csillag Day-care Center and Kindergarten on the premises of the car plant.

The majority, 6000 m2 of the building is occupied by a training hall equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The building also includes offices, training rooms, and a multifunctional space accommodating audiences of up to 120, which is also available for trainees and students.

The modern training hall of Mercedes-Benz Academy Kecskemét is going to house mainly the practical sessions, and occasional project work of dual education participants. The training rooms will also serve as a venue for internal training events including training for office work or jobs on the assembly line. Recruitment, worker selection as well as skilling of new recruits for the assembly line will also take place here. Additionally, further training of the current workforce will also be provided at the training centre.

The Kecskemét plant has played a pioneering role in introducing dual education in Hungary: the success of the program – operating since 2011 – is demonstrated by applications for both dual vocational training, and dual college training far exceeding available places year by year. The number of courses offered under the program increases continuously. In providing its dual training, the company closely cooperates with the Kecskemét Neumann János University and several vocational schools including Kandó Kálmán Vocational Grammar School and Vocational Secondary School, and Gáspár András Vocational Grammar School and Vocational Secondary School, and Szent Benedek Grammar School and Vocational Training School.
