MERCEDES-BENZ FACTORY IN KECSKEMÉT CLOSED ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR

The vehicle manufacturing company remains one of the dominant players in the Hungarian economy. The automaker closed another successful year: in 2019, about 190,000 compact cars rolled off the production lines in Kecskemét, generating net revenue of about EUR 3.7 billion. This means an increase of approximately 2.7 percent compared to the revenue of nearly EUR 3.6 billion in 2018.

Mercedes-Benz's Kecskemét plant successfully started series production of three successive new compact models in 2019. In February, the first series-produced example of the new-generation CLA Coupé rolled off the production line, followed shortly in June by its sister model, the new CLA Shooting Brake. In autumn of 2019, the Kecskemét factory launched its third successful serial production in one year, when the first examples of the Mercedes-AMG Performance top models of the Kecskemét compact models simultaneously exited the production line.

The Kecskemét factory has also increased its importance in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars. The factory is a pioneer in the application and testing of new manufacturing technologies that after a successful test period will be adopted and implemented by other sites in the production network.

Christian Wolff, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. said at the press conference that neither the production and financial results of 2019 nor the almost complete renewal of the model range would have been possible without the dedicated, motivated and competent team of the factory.
