This year, the Mercedes-Benz factory in Kecskemét filled up in record time for its traditional running race, which the car manufacturer organised for the ninth time to promote community building and healthy lifestyles.
For the first time in the history of the race, all distances were werw held inside the factory fence. Both the children's races and adult races were completely inside the factory, including the start-finish area. Participants were able to run through the body shop and also touched one of the assembly plant’s logistics halls.
The sports event is becoming increasingly popular with adults and children, with many families taking part in the fun. This year, a total of 2,000 runners completed the race distances. In 2019, nearly 400 children ran for 1.3 km, and 88 teams competed in the 5x5 km relay. More than 1,000 runners took part in the 10 km race and 202 took on the longest distance of 25 km.
Christian Wolff, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Kecskemét, congratulated the top finishers and presented them with their prizes. He said it was a source of pride and joy that, while the event was a healthy lifestyle choice for the participants, it was also an important community event. He said that the race had become a tradition, attracting runners and their supporters not only from the factory’s area, but also from other parts of Hungary.
